Kwetsani Camp
Tree-House camp in the Okavango Delta
Kwetsani Camp is a luxurious treehouse camp set on a palm-, mangosteen- and fig-tree-covered island within the private Jao Concession (NG25) in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Its elevated position in the middle of the floodplain defines the character of the camp, with wide views across the seasonally flooded plains from both the accommodation and communal areas. During the annual flood, the landscape transforms into a network of waterways and lagoons, while in the drier months, the open plains of nearby Hunda Island are particularly attractive for game drives.
Accommodation at Kwetsani Camp
The camp currently comprises five elevated suites and a spacious Family Suite. The five standard suites are connected by wooden walkways and feature a bedroom, a sunken lounge area, a private bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers and a bathtub, as well as a private terrace overlooking the floodplains. The Family Suite, designed for a minimum of two adults, consists of two separate bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, connected by a shared lounge. Both bedrooms can be configured with either a king-size bed or twin beds and also have their own private terraces.
The elevated main area includes a lounge, dining area, bar, spacious viewing decks and a swimming pool. Depending on the weather and occasion, meals may also be served outdoors, with the cuisine drawing on seasonal ingredients and local influences. Solar power supports the camp's low-impact approach to its natural surroundings. Conservation of the Okavango ecosystem is central to the philosophy of the Jao Reserve and encompasses its waterways, dry land, vegetation, birdlife and wildlife.
Activities and tours at Kwetsani Camp
Game drives are offered throughout the year, while boating and mokoro excursions depend on the prevailing water levels. Guided walks, birdwatching and seasonal catch-and-release fishing complement the activities on offer. Private game drives can also be arranged on request, while a mobile spa and helicopter scenic flights are available as additional experiences. Access to Kwetsani is via Jao Airstrip, from where the camp is reached by vehicle or boat, depending on the water level.
