Maun region in Botswana
Maun is the capital of the North West District (Ngamiland) and is located in northern Botswana on the southeastern edge of the Okavango Basin. The area around Maun is the perfect location to discover the legendary Okavango Delta. There are many accommodations here that are cheaper than in the Okavango Delta itself.
Maun is the starting point for touring the Okavango Delta and thus lives essentially from Okavango tourism. Many tourists do not leave the airport at all, but take a small plane to their destination in the Delta. A variety of experienced bush pilots are ready to take the visitors to their destination as many camps are very remote and difficult to reach. From Maun there are also flights to the Chobe National Park, the Moremi Game Reserve and the Central Kalahari region. So there is a lot of activity around the airport.
