Gomoti Plains Camp

Tented camp in the eastern Okavango Delta

Gomoti Plains Camp by Machaba Safaris is located in the eastern Okavango Delta of Botswana, overlooking the Gomoti River system and the vast seasonal floodplains that give the camp its name. Set within a private concession, the camp occupies one of the most wildlife-rich areas of the delta, where open grasslands, palm islands, lagoons and winding waterways create a diverse and ever-changing landscape.

Accommodation at Gomoti Plains Camp

Gomoti Plains Camp features ten spacious safari tents, including eight luxury double tents and two family tents accommodating up to four guests each. Raised on wooden decks, every tent enjoys sweeping views across the surrounding floodplains. The accommodation includes comfortable king-size or twin beds, an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a flush toilet, ceiling fans, power outlets, seating areas and a private veranda where wildlife can often be observed directly from the tent.

At the heart of the camp is a spacious, covered main area comprising a lounge, bar and dining room. Expansive wooden decks overlook the surrounding wilderness, while evening campfires create the timeless atmosphere of a traditional African safari. A small swimming pool offers a welcome retreat during the warmer hours of the day. Additional facilities include a boutique, a small library and an in-room spa service offering massages and wellness treatments. Due to the camp's remote location, Wi-Fi is available only in the guest tents.

Activities and tours at Gomoti Plains Camp

The annual cycle of rising and receding floodwaters creates ideal habitats for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, a wide variety of antelope species and predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs and African wild dogs. The concession is also an excellent destination for birdwatching, with an impressive diversity of birdlife throughout the year.

Guests can enjoy morning, afternoon and evening game drives led by experienced guides, as well as guided walking safaris accompanied by armed professional guides. Depending on seasonal water levels, the Okavango Delta can also be explored by traditional mokoro canoe or motorboat, offering a unique perspective on this remarkable wetland ecosystem.
