Luxury lodge in the Savute area
Savute Safari Lodge is located in the remote Savute region in the southwestern part of Chobe National Park, directly on the Savute Channel. The landscape is characterised by vast savannahs, dry plains and the unusual watercourse that has long shaped the western part of the national park. The Savute Channel is known for its unpredictable nature: it can remain dry for long periods or start flowing again, independently of rainfall and flood levels in other regions.
Accommodation at Savute Safari Lodge
The lodge offers eleven luxury chalets and one family chalet. The individual chalets are built from local timber and raised on elevated platforms. They feature a private bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet, as well as a private terrace. Facilities include a fan, safe, and tea and coffee station. The family chalet consists of two interconnected en-suite rooms, each with its own terrace and seating area.
The communal areas are spread across several levels overlooking the Savute Channel and the waterhole directly in front of the lodge. A spacious, shaded viewing terrace provides excellent opportunities for observing the wildlife that regularly visits the area. A lowered photographic platform allows guests to capture images from a low angle, while an elevated deck with a telescope is used for wildlife observation and taking in the African night sky. The main area also includes a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, a bar, a small curio shop, a fire pit and a swimming pool on a separate deck.
Activities and tours at Savute Safari Lodge
Many game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles head to the Savute Marsh, where the eventful history of the channel can be experienced particularly clearly. Another excursion takes guests to the ancient San rock paintings at the Gubatsa Hills. The region is also known for an important seasonal zebra migration, which, depending on the rainfall, usually takes place between November and December and again between February and April. Numerous predators follow the migrating zebras into the area.
Savute Safari Lodge offers open-vehicle game drives and safaris in the Chobe National Park. The San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills can also be visited on an organized tour.
