Lodge and camping in Kasane, at the banks of the Chobe
The historic Chobe Safari Lodge is situated on the banks of the Chobe River, just a 10-minute drive from Kasane International Airport and the entrance to Chobe National Park. Since opening its doors in 1959, the lodge has established itself as one of the region's most renowned safari destinations. Today, it forms a single integrated resort together with the neighbouring Chobe Bush Lodge, both of which are part of the Under One Botswana Sky collection. Guests staying at either lodge enjoy full access to the facilities and amenities of the entire resort.
Accommodation at Chobe Safari Lodge
Accommodation options include four spacious two-bedroom Explorer Suites, accommodating up to five guests, which are located either along the river or overlooking the surrounding bush. Each suite features a separate lounge, a private balcony, and a complimentary minibar. These are complemented by four luxurious one-bedroom Suites for up to three guests, also offering a lounge area, private balcony, and complimentary minibar. The resort further offers 107 comfortable guest rooms, comprising 46 Safari Rooms, 38 Bush Rooms, 15 River Rooms, and eight traditional rondavels, all ideally suited to couples and families. Each room features a private balcony or veranda, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a mini fridge. The accommodation is complemented by a shaded campsite with 23 spacious powered camping sites.
The shared guest facilities include several restaurants and bars located along the riverfront, offering uninterrupted views of the Chobe River and Sedudu Island. Additional amenities include the Botswana Elephant Centre, the Chobe Gallery, and the Explorers Lounge, where guests can discover Botswana's wildlife, culture, and history through engaging exhibits and displays. The Kwa Maningi Spa, two swimming pools, and a traditional daily High Tea provide opportunities to relax, while the Safari Shop & Bush Boutique offers safari essentials, local crafts, and souvenirs from the region.
Activities and tours at Chobe Safari Lodge
The lodge's open layout allows wildlife to roam freely through the grounds, making encounters with warthogs, bushbuck, and mongooses a regular occurrence. Along the riverbanks, guests frequently spot elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and an exceptional variety of birdlife. A natural bush walk leads through shaded woodland to elevated viewpoints overlooking the Chobe landscape and can be explored with a guide on request. Activities also include game drives in Chobe National Park, private boat cruises, tiger fishing, scenic flights, cultural village visits, and day trips to the spectacular Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, approximately 80 kilometres away.
