Overview of the regions and towns:
Central Kalahari
The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is the second largest game reserve in the world and covers an area of 52,800 square kilometres, which is almost 10% of Botswana's land area.
Chobe
The Chobe region around the enormously wildlife-rich Chobe National Park in the north of Botswana stretches below the Chobe and Linyanti rivers to the eastern ravine of the Okavango Delta.
Eastern Botswana
The east of Botswana is not necessarily popular for hosting the tourist highlights of the country, however, on closer inspection, travellers will find some nice insider tips, eg the wonderful Northern Tuli Game Reserve.
Ghanzi
The Ghanzi region includes the western part of Botswana bordering Namibia around the small town of Ghanzi and the northern areas around the Tsodilo Hills (western Ngamiland).
Kasane
Right at the northern tip of Botswana lies the town of Kasane with its 9000 inhabitants. Kasane is situated in the Chobe District, one of ten districts in Botswana, where four countries meet: Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Kgalagadi
The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (KTF) is one of the largest nature conservation areas in the world and is nearly as big as Switzerland, covering an area of 39.000 km² with three quarters of the park situated in Botswana and one quarter in South Africa.
Kwando-Linyanti
The Kwando-Linyanti area is located north of the Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve, bordering Chobe National Park on its eastern side. The permanently water-bearing river systems from Kwando and Linyanti with the surrounding forests offer outstanding natural areas for African wild animals.
Makgadikgadi / Nxai pans
Makgadikgadi Pans National Park and Nxai Pans National Park, with their vast salt pans, form an impressive, surreal landscape which attracts a lot of wildlife and is home to a famous Baobab island.
Maun
Maun is the starting point for touring the Okavango Delta and thus lives essentially from Okavango tourism.
Moremi
The Moremi region with the Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Concession is considered as one of the last real wilderness paradises in Africa. With an unbelievable abundance of African wildlife the safari dream of every traveler comes true.
Okavango Delta
The magical and world famous Okavango Delta is one of the absolute highlights of a trip to Botswana. In the Okavango Delta, the Okavango River meets the Kalahari and forms the world's largest inland delta, one of the last great wilderness paradises of our planet.
