Mother Buffalo and the wild beauty of the delta
“Mma Dinare,” which means Mother Buffalo in Setswana, embodies warmth, care, and a deep connection to the rhythms of nature. The camp is situated in a 27,000-hectare private concession on the southeastern edge of the Moremi Game Reserve, offering expansive views over the Gomoti River and its extensive floodplains. These attract herds of buffalo and elephants, as well as red lechwe, lions, and African wild dogs.
Accommodation at Mma Dinare Camp
The camp comprises nine comfortable tents, including a family tent, all built on raised platforms with panoramic views of the surrounding plains. The thatched central area, with lounge, dining space, bar, and swimming pool, provides a relaxing environment, while the entire camp is powered by solar energy, reflecting a conscious commitment to sustainability.
Mma Dinare differs from many other camps because it operates within a community concession owned by the Sankuyo Community, whose members have lived and used this land for generations. Through the partnership with Kwando Safaris, local communities benefit directly—not only through employment but also via projects in infrastructure and education. Many of the camp’s staff come from nearby villages, sharing authentic stories, cultural knowledge, and warm hospitality, which adds to the unique character of Mma Dinare.
Activities and tours at Mma Dinare Camp
Wildlife viewing in this area is exceptional. Guests can enjoy day and night game drives, often accompanied by a guide and tracker to help spot elusive predators. Depending on water levels, mokoro excursions and walking safaris are also offered, providing an intimate and immersive experience of the Delta’s rich natural environment.
