Eagle Island Lodge lies deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta on the secluded Xaxaba Island, surrounded by a unique landscape of water channels and lagoons. From the lodge, guests enjoy sweeping views over the floodplains, home to a great variety of wildlife, while the proximity to the Moremi Game Reserve further increases the chances of remarkable game sightings.
Accommodation at Eagle Island Lodge
The lodge offers twelve spacious tented suites, each built on raised wooden platforms. Every tent is topped with a traditional thatched roof and equipped with modern air-conditioning to ensure a pleasant indoor climate even on hot days. A highlight is the large private terrace with its own plunge pool, providing an undisturbed view of the surrounding wilderness. The interiors combine modern design with African touches, creating an authentic yet highly comfortable atmosphere. Guests also have access to Wi-Fi in the suites, allowing them to stay connected to the outside world despite the remote setting.
Activities and tours at Eagle Island Lodge
The lodge’s activity program is closely linked to the seasonal changes of the delta. During periods of high water, mokoro excursions in traditional dugout canoes and motorboat trips take center stage, offering a unique perspective on the delta’s flora and fauna. As the waters recede, opportunities expand to include guided walking safaris and game drives in 4x4 vehicles, giving guests the chance to encounter big game up close. A particularly enriching experience is the visit to the nearby village of Xaxaba, where guests gain insight into the traditional way of life at the edge of the delta. For adventurers, special activities such as helicopter flights over the waterways or guided horseback safaris are available at an additional cost, opening up even more extraordinary perspectives on this breathtaking landscape.
