Elegance and Wilderness on the banks of the Gomoti River
Opened in May 2024, Tawana Lodge is one of the newest and most luxurious safari lodges in the Okavango Delta. Set in the eastern part of the Moremi Game Reserve, right on the banks of the Gomoti River, it offers access to one of the richest and most scenic wildlife areas in Botswana. The lodge was developed in close partnership with Chief Tawana Moremi, whose family has long been dedicated to conserving this exceptional region.
Accommodation at Tawana
Tawana offers just eight spacious suites – including three family units – ensuring privacy and exclusivity. Each suite is built on raised wooden platforms and designed with a blend of natural textures and elegant finishes. Guests enjoy private decks with plunge pools and shaded salas, indoor and outdoor showers, free-standing bathtubs, air conditioning, and generous lounge spaces. At the heart of the lodge is a beautifully designed central area featuring indoor and outdoor dining, a lounge, a library, a walk-in wine cellar, wood-fired pizza oven, spa, a fully equipped gym, and a 16-meter swimming pool with views of the floodplains. The entire lodge runs on 100% solar power, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability.
Activities and tours at Tawana
Thanks to its prime location along the Gomoti River, wildlife viewing is exceptional year-round. Large herds of elephants and buffalo frequent the area, along with hippos, lions, leopards, African wild dogs, and numerous antelope species. Birders will be especially thrilled by the presence of over 400 species, including rarities such as Perl’s fishing owl, sitatunga, and red lechwe. Activities include guided game drives in the morning and late afternoon, birdwatching, nature walks, and optional scenic helicopter flights over the delta. The diverse landscape of seasonal lagoons, mopane woodland, and grassy plains makes for spectacular and varied safari experiences.
Tawana Lodge is perfect for couples, families, and small groups seeking an intimate and high-end safari with exceptional wildlife encounters, first-class service, and a deep connection to Botswana’s natural and cultural heritage.
