Luxury lodge in the Okavango Delta
Saguni Safari Lodge is a luxury lodge in the wildlife-rich Khwai area of the Okavango Delta, located on an island characterized by large riverside trees and offering stunning views of the Mbudi Lagoon. The name Saguni comes from the language of the San and refers to Khwai as an area rich in wildlife and characterized by distinctive landscapes. The lodge, which forms part of the Adventure Portfolio of An African Anthology, opened in August 2018 and can be reached via the Khwai airstrip. The transfer from the airstrip to the lodge takes approximately 20 minutes.
Accommodation at Saguni Safari Lodge
Eight luxury tents are located directly on the riverbank overlooking the Sable River, while a further 13 Forest Tents are nestled beneath the canopy of the trees. All tents feature a private bathroom and a veranda. At the heart of the lodge is the communal main area with a lounge, restaurant and two bars. A central terrace leads to a fire pit, which serves as a gathering place for guests. One of the bars and the elevated viewing areas offer views across the lagoon. Depending on the safari schedule, meals and daily tea are served on the terrace or in the dining area. A swimming pool complements the lodge's facilities and provides a refreshing way to cool off on hot days. Children aged 8 and above are welcome.
Activities and tours at Saguni Safari Lodge
The location allows for a variety of wildlife experiences. Activities include game drives in open safari vehicles, including photographic safaris and night drives. Mokoro excursions along the waterways of the Delta are also offered, as well as cultural visits to a museum village. Guided bush walks are available depending on the season. The Khwai area is home to numerous wildlife species, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, elephants, buffalo, hippos and giraffes. Some safari activities take place in the Khwai Community Concession, while excursions into the Moremi Game Reserve are also possible.
