Monachira Camp
Tented camp at the Monachira River
Monachira Camp is located in the Moremi Game Reserve on the banks of the Monachira Channel, close to the famous Gudigwa heron colonies, and offers magnificent views of thousands of herons, egrets and storks. The elevated position on wooden decks provides sweeping views across the surrounding floodplains, where a variety of wildlife can be observed. With some luck, guests may also spot the well-camouflaged Pel’s fishing owl and the rare sitatunga, a semi-aquatic antelope adapted to the wetlands.
Accommodation at Monachira Camp
Monachira Camp offers 10 luxurious eco-friendly safari-style tents, including eight double tents and two family tents accommodating up to four guests. The accommodations provide approximately 100 m² of space in the double tents and 200 m² in the family tents. Each tent features a private bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, toilet, fan, Wi-Fi and a private terrace overlooking the surrounding wilderness.
At the heart of the camp is the spacious main area with an open dining and lounge space set on an elevated wooden platform. Here, guests gather for meals, drinks at the bar or around the campfire to share the experiences of the day. Additional facilities include a small swimming pool and a reading area.
Activities and tours at Monachira Camp
Activities include classic game drives in open safari vehicles as well as guided nature walks, birdwatching and seasonal water-based activities. When water levels are sufficient, guests can explore the waterways of the Okavango Delta by traditional mokoro canoe or motorboat, offering a unique perspective on the wildlife and landscapes. Cultural excursions and night-time stargazing experiences are also available. In addition, guests can enjoy massages and wellness treatments provided by a professional spa therapist.
