Mogogelo Camp is set in the private Sankuyo Community Concession, east of the Okavango Delta and right on the border of the Moremi Game Reserve. This prime location offers a stunning variety of landscapes – from wide-open savannahs to riverine floodplains and lush woodlands – and is home to some of the richest wildlife in Botswana. Locally owned and operated, the camp is deeply rooted in the surrounding community and offers guests an authentic safari experience with warm, personal hospitality.
Accommodation at Mogogelo Camp
Accommodation consists of ten spacious Meru-style tents, each raised on wooden platforms and featuring an en-suite bathroom and a private veranda. All tents overlook an open plain with a permanent waterhole that regularly attracts elephants, antelope, and other wildlife, allowing for unforgettable sightings without even leaving the camp. At the heart of Mogogelo Camp lies the central communal area with an inviting lounge and bar under a traditional thatched roof. Guests can relax here in comfort, share stories with fellow travellers, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. An outdoor terrace, a refreshing swimming pool, and a fire pit overlooking the waterhole create the perfect settings to connect with nature – whether over a morning coffee or under Botswana’s dazzling night sky.
Sustainability is at the core of Mogogelo Camp’s ethos. The entire operation runs on solar power, most staff are recruited from the local community, and a portion of the camp’s revenue supports conservation and community projects in Sankuyo. Guests can take pride in knowing their stay directly benefits both the people and the environment of the region.
Activities and Excursions at Mogogelo Camp
Activities at Mogogelo Camp are varied and designed to immerse guests in the wilderness. Daily game drives, both during the day and at night, explore the concession’s rich wildlife. Traditional mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions along quiet waterways, birdwatching, guided bush walks, and day trips into the Moremi Game Reserve are all part of the experience. Knowledgeable local guides lead guests to encounters with lions, leopards, wild dogs, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and an impressive array of antelope and bird species.
