Exclusive bush camp on the Mababe River
Mababe Tented Camp is the newest addition to the Bush Ways collection, situated on the banks of the Mababe River within the private Mababe Concession in northern Botswana. This exclusive concession occupies a remarkable location between Chobe National Park and the Moremi Game Reserve, forming an important transition zone between the permanent waterways of the Okavango Delta, open grasslands, and riverine forests. The area is renowned for its exceptional wildlife, with large herds of elephants, lions, leopards, numerous antelope species, and an impressive variety of birdlife regularly encountered.
Accommodation at Mababe Tented Camp
Designed as a small and exclusive safari camp, Mababe Tented Camp offers a peaceful and intimate atmosphere, allowing guests to experience the African wilderness away from the busier safari destinations. The camp features just eight spacious Meru-style tents, each positioned along the riverbank. Every tent includes an en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower and comfortable sleeping arrangements with either king-size or twin beds. Generous entrance decks provide uninterrupted views across the surrounding landscape, where wildlife can often be seen moving along the river.
At the heart of the camp is an open-sided, thatched main area incorporating a comfortable lounge and dining space overlooking the Mababe River. Meals are served here, while inviting seating areas provide the perfect place to relax between game drives and enjoy the passing wildlife. Although the camp offers an authentic wilderness experience, Wi-Fi is available in the main guest area when needed.
Activities and tours at Mababe Tented Camp
Guided game drives explore the diverse habitats of the Mababe Concession, offering excellent opportunities to encounter predators, elephants, buffalo, and a wide range of other wildlife. The safari experience is complemented by traditional mokoro excursions, where guests glide silently through the waterways of the Okavango Delta in dugout canoes. These peaceful excursions provide a unique perspective on the Delta's remarkable ecosystem and its abundant wildlife while offering an immersive experience in one of Botswana's most pristine natural environments.
