Luxury camp on Chief’s Island in the Okavango Delta
The Sanctuary Chief’s Camp is located on Chief’s Island in the famous Moremi Game Reserve, right in the heart of the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island is renowned for its exceptionally high concentration of wildlife and offers some of the finest safari experiences in southern Africa. Formed when ancient floodplains were slightly raised by tectonic activity, Chief’s Island is today one of the most wildlife-rich areas of the Okavango.

Measuring 140 m², the ten spacious bush pavilions are among the largest in the region. They combine modern comforts such as air-conditioning and ceiling fans with elegant bathrooms featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, outdoor showers and deep soaking tubs. Each pavilion has a private deck where guests can dine in peace while watching elephants, buffalo or giraffes pass by.
For ultimate privacy, the 620 m² Geoffrey Kent Luxury Suite accommodates up to six guests (four adults and two children). Inspired by the travels of adventurer Geoffrey Kent, it features stylish interiors, a private lounge, kitchen, boma and outdoor decks. Exclusive services include a personal guide with private vehicle, as well as a dedicated chef, waiter and housekeeper.
The camp’s central facilities include an elegant lounge, bar, infinity pool and a fine restaurant. For relaxation, the Chief’s Camp Spa offers a range of wellness treatments.
Activities and tours at Chief's Camp
Sanctuary Chief’s Camp offers a wide variety of safari experiences. Guests can set out on game drives in open 4x4 vehicles for close-up encounters with wildlife. Depending on the delta’s water levels, traditional mokoro excursions in dugout canoes or boat trips through the winding channels are also available. Guided bush walks with experienced trackers add another dimension to the safari experience. Chief’s Island is particularly famous for sightings of the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Thanks to successful reintroduction programs, visitors may even be lucky enough to spot the rare black rhino.
Its remote location guarantees an exclusive wildlife experience while showcasing the full variety of the delta’s landscapes, from shimmering lagoons and open floodplains to mopane and acacia forests.
