The rustic Gweta Lodge is located in the small village of Gweta in the heart of Botswana, right on the edge of Makgadikgadi National Park, Nxai National Park, Baines’ Baobabs, the Ntwetwe Pan, and Kubu Island. All these natural highlights make the lodge an ideal base from which to explore the fascinating salt pan landscapes with their ancient baobab trees, rich wildlife, and the curious meerkats that live in the area.

Activities and tours at Gweta Lodge
A wide variety of activities ensures that every guest finds something memorable. The most popular are the meerkat tours on the edge of the Ntwetwe Pan, which provide fascinating insights into the social life of these endearing animals. Guided village walks introduce visitors to everyday life in Gweta, with stops at the traditional kgotla (village meeting place), the local school and hospital, and even a visit to a healer who can predict the future. Guests keen to experience the pans themselves can choose between half-day and full-day excursions or spend a night under the breathtaking starry sky right in the middle of the salt flats. Along the way, the historic “Greens” and “Chapman’s” baobabs are often visited – giant trees that once served as landmarks for early travelers.
