The Elephant Sands Lodge is located 53 km north of Nata, in the heart of an unfenced 16,000-hectare private game reserve. Thanks to this open environment, guests can experience unforgettable wildlife encounters – elephants frequently wander right up to the swimming pool to drink, while visitors relax and watch the spectacle.
Accommodation at Elephant Sands Lodge
The lodge offers 14 chalets in different styles, including single, double, and family chalets, all with en-suite bathrooms (some featuring both bathtub and shower). The chalets are simply but comfortably furnished, equipped with mosquito nets, and exude an authentic bush atmosphere.
For those who prefer a closer connection to nature, the spacious campsite provides shared facilities such as hot showers, toilets, fire pits, and braai areas – perfect for travelers who want to experience the wilderness firsthand. Electricity and charging stations are available in the main restaurant area.
Guests can enjoy hearty meals with breakfast, lunch, and a set dinner menu, complemented by a well-stocked bar. A highlight of the lodge is the swimming pool, shaded by a gazebo, where elephants often gather at the adjacent waterhole – turning every swim or sundowner into a unique wildlife experience.
Activities and tours at Elephant Sands Lodge
Elephant Sands offers a wide range of activities for adventurers. Morning and evening game drives in open vehicles provide excellent opportunities to spot elephants, giraffes, lions, wild dogs, and more. Additional activities include mountain biking, horseback riding, guided bush walks, and traditional bush braais around the campfire. For a truly memorable experience, guests can also join overnight excursions to the surreal Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, complete with dinner, a tented camp, and a magical night under the stars.
