Camp Kalahari

Cozy camp on Brown Hyaena Island

Camp Kalahari is located within a 400,000 hectare private game reserve, nestled amidst acacia and mokolwane palm trees on Brown Hyena Island. In addition to the rare brown hyena, spoon-eared foxes, aardvarks, and aardwolves occasionally scamper across the salt, and elephants roam the area. From November to April, huge herds of zebra and wildebeest pass by with the rains, followed by big cats and wild dogs. During the dry season, from May to October, haze settles over the salt, and the sun sparkles off the Makgadikgadi pans.

Accommodation at Camp Kalahari

CK is a cozy and affordable camp. It features 12 Meru-style tents with Moroccan kilims and four-poster beds, as well as en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and complete privacy. For families or groups, there are fenced-off areas with two tents with connecting bathrooms. The main area consists of a lounge with a library and a dining tent with a long table. The thatched swimming pool is a refreshing spot on a hot afternoon - sometimes Ellie pops in for a quick drink...

Activities and tours at Camp Kalahari
