Affordable lodge at the Boteti River
The Boteti River Camp enjoys a scenic setting on the banks of the Boteti River, just outside the Khumaga Gate of Makgadikgadi National Park. The Boteti is a remarkable lifeline on the edge of the Kalahari, carrying seasonal waters that attract an abundance of wildlife during the dry months. Boteti River Camp is an affordable safari oasis where guests can experience Botswana's spectacular wilderness in a relaxed atmosphere. Its peaceful riverside location makes it an excellent addition to any Botswana safari, offering a striking contrast to the waterways of the Okavango Delta, the wetlands of Moremi Game Reserve, and the forests of Chobe National Park.
Accommodation at Boteti River Camp
The present-day Boteti River Camp evolved from the former Tiaan's Camp, which was acquired by Bush Ways in 2019 and carefully redeveloped. Accommodation consists of five Standard Chalets and three spacious Family Chalets, all featuring en-suite bathrooms and thoughtfully positioned beneath shady trees to provide privacy and comfort.
The elevated viewing deck offers panoramic views over the Boteti River, allowing guests to enjoy excellent wildlife sightings without leaving the camp. The welcoming central area also includes a restaurant, a bar, and a refreshing swimming pool, creating an ideal place to relax between safari activities.
For self-drive travellers, the camp also offers eight campsites and three simple Mini Meru tents with shared ablution facilities, making it an excellent choice for families and independent visitors exploring Botswana by road.
Activities and tours at Boteti River Camp
Game drives in Makgadikgadi National Park are the highlight of any stay. The park's open grasslands, riverbanks, and diverse habitats support an impressive variety of wildlife, while experienced guides provide fascinating insights into animal behaviour and the ecology of this unique environment. The camp's proximity to the village of Khumaga also offers guests the opportunity to gain an authentic glimpse into rural life in Botswana and encourages meaningful cultural exchanges with the local community.
