Seasonal safari camp at the Linyanti river
Linyanti Expeditions is a seasonal safari camp in northern Botswana, located in the Linyanti Wilderness Reserve, a private concession bordering Chobe National Park and stretching south of the Linyanti River. The camp is open during the dry season from May to November, when wildlife gathers around the permanent water sources, making for spectacular sightings. Particularly impressive are the large herds of elephants and buffalo, but lions, leopards, and many other species are also frequently encountered.
Accommodation at Linyanti Expeditions
With just six luxury safari tents, the camp offers an intimate and immersive experience of the African wilderness. Each spacious tent has its own bathroom with an eco-friendly toilet and an open-air bucket shower. A unique highlight is the so-called Star Suite, where the bed can be moved outside under the starry sky – protected only by a fine mosquito net. Spending the night in the open bush like this is truly unforgettable.
The camp’s design combines comfort with an authentic safari atmosphere: mosquito nets, comfortable beds, simple yet stylish furnishings, and a private seating area create a relaxed ambiance. Communal areas include a dining tent, a lounge with a bar, and a central firepit where guests can gather in the evenings to share their safari experiences.
Activities and tours at Linyanti Expeditions
The location along the Linyanti River makes the camp a perfect base for a wide variety of safari activities. Classic game drives take place both during the day and at night, as the private concession allows after-dark excursions. Guided walking safaris provide the opportunity to discover the smaller wonders of the bush and follow animal tracks on foot. Depending on water levels, guests can also enjoy mokoro trips in traditional dugout canoes or motorboat excursions – a peaceful and impressive way to explore the waterways and observe wildlife from a different perspective. Birdwatchers will find plenty to enjoy as well, as the riverbanks are home to a rich diversity of bird species.
