Intimate camp in the Elephant Valley in Lesoma
Chobe Bush Camp is located in Elephant Valley near Lesoma, approximately 25 km south of Kasane, in a secluded bush setting away from the busier areas of the town. Its location combines easy access to Chobe National Park and the Chobe River with the immediate nature experience of a small bush camp. The camp was opened in 2012 as an extension of the Water Lily Lodge operation and today accommodates a maximum of 26 guests.
Accommodation at Chobe Bush Camp
The accommodation consists of five freestanding, thatched chalets built on stilts. Each chalet is furnished with one double bed and one single bed and can accommodate up to three guests. The chalets overlook the waterhole directly. In addition, there are four twin-bed chalets arranged as a block unit. All nine guest chalets have private en-suite bathrooms. The accommodation is complemented by two simple en-suite guide chalets – one twin room and one single room – which can also be used by budget-conscious travellers but cannot be booked in advance.
The camp deliberately focuses on a simple nature experience and does not provide televisions or Wi-Fi. The chalets are constructed using materials such as wood, canvas and thatch, allowing the buildings to blend unobtrusively into their surroundings. The energy supply is also designed to be as self-sufficient as possible: the camp is not connected to the public electricity grid. Power is supplied by a solar system, while a generator is used only as a backup for a few hours in the evening.
At the heart of the camp are a thatched bar and restaurant with an adjoining open-air area where meals can also be enjoyed outdoors. The kitchen is designed as an open kitchen, allowing guests to watch freshly prepared meals being cooked. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated.
Activities and tours at Chobe Bush Camp
Chobe Bush Camp offers a range of activities that allow guests to experience the wildlife and landscapes of Chobe National Park at close quarters. These include guided game drives in open safari vehicles, sunset boat cruises on the Chobe River and excursions to nearby Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
The waterhole directly in front of the camp plays a particularly important role. Elephants and buffalo are regularly seen, while sightings have also included sable antelope, roan antelope and lions. A dedicated viewing platform provides seating at ground level as well as an elevated viewing area. This allows guests to observe wildlife directly from the camp without having to go on a game drive.
