Self-catering holiday home with mountain views
Shalimpo Safari Home is located in the far eastern reaches of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve in Botswana. This thatched, fully solar-powered self-catering safari home enjoys a spectacular hilltop setting overlooking the floodplains of the Shashe and Limpopo Rivers at the unique tri-border region where Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa meet. Reserved exclusively for one group at a time, the private safari house accommodates up to eight guests.
Accommodation at Shalimpo Safari Home
The safari home features four bedrooms. Two have en-suite bathrooms, while the remaining two share a spacious bathroom. At the heart of the house is an open-plan living and dining area that extends onto a covered veranda overlooking the river landscape and the vast wilderness of the reserve. A fully equipped farmhouse kitchen allows guests to cater for themselves, with groceries and beverages available for pre-order through Mashatu before arrival.
Outside, several seating areas, a traditional boma and braai area, and a small swimming pool provide inviting spaces to relax between game drives. After sunset, the remote location offers exceptional stargazing and memorable evenings around the campfire. A dedicated housekeeping team ensures the house is serviced daily and that guests enjoy a comfortable and seamless stay.
Activities and tours at Shalimpo Safari Home
A stay at Shalimpo Safari Home includes guided safari activities with a private safari vehicle and an experienced guide. Depending on the day's programme, guests can enjoy either two game drives or one game drive combined with a guided bush walk. The approximately 13,000-hectare safari area borders the core section of the Mashatu Game Reserve and offers an unspoilt wilderness experience. Wildlife sightings regularly include elephants, antelope, giraffes and a variety of predators, while more than 350 bird species have been recorded in the area. The surrounding landscape is further enriched by traditional cattle herders and the rural culture of this remote border region, adding a distinctive cultural dimension to the safari experience.
