Affordable stopover at the Limpopo
Kwa Nokeng Lodge is located right on the banks of the Limpopo River, just a few kilometers from the Martins Drift / Groblersbrug border post. This family-run lodge in the Tuli Block serves both as a convenient stopover for travelers heading to or from South Africa and as a base for exploring the surrounding nature. The name “Kwa Nokeng” means “by the river” in Setswana, and indeed the Limpopo—with its rich birdlife, winding river channels, and occasional sightings of hippos and crocodiles—shapes the atmosphere of the lodge.
Accommodation at Kwa Nokeng Lodge
The lodge offers a variety of accommodation types to suit different needs. The river cottages are particularly popular, featuring two bedrooms, a living area with a kitchenette, and a terrace, some with direct views of the river. For those who prefer a safari-style stay, the luxury tents provide a comfortable option: they are elevated on stilts by the river and come with their own bathrooms. In addition, there are safari tents with electricity and shared bathroom facilities, as well as spacious campsites right on the riverbank, equipped with lawns, power outlets, and fire pits. For guests seeking more luxury, villa options and well-equipped chalets with kitchens are also available.
The lodge includes a restaurant, a bar with a lounge, a swimming pool, a small shop, and a fuel station, which offers lower prices than on the South African side. For guests on the move, take-away options are also available. Wi-Fi in public areas, secure parking, and a 24-hour reception ensure that travelers feel well taken care of.
Activities and tours at Kwa Nokeng Lodge
Guests who plan to stay longer can enjoy a wide range of activities. The Tuli Block is known for its rich birdlife, with over 270 species observable around the lodge. On the lodge’s game farm, game drives are available either with a guide or in your own vehicle. Fishing in the Limpopo, hiking, and mountain biking offer further opportunities to engage with nature. For adventure enthusiasts, quad biking and off-road excursions are also offered, traversing riverbeds and rocky terrain.
