The Kalahari Rest Lodge is a privately owned lodge near Kang, located directly on the Trans-Kalahari Highway. It is an excellent stopover for journeys between Namibia and the rest of Botswana, combining the amenities of comfortable accommodation with the experience of the Kalahari wilderness.
Accommodation at Kalahari Rest
The lodge can host up to 44 guests and offers different types of accommodation. The chalets and rooms are modern and equipped with private bathrooms with shower and toilet, air conditioning, kitchenette, and a mini-fridge. They provide a pleasant mix of rustic atmosphere and comfortable facilities. For travelers who prefer adventure, there are spacious campsites, each with private sanitary facilities, electricity, and barbecue areas.
The lodge itself features a bar, a swimming pool, and free WiFi in the main area. In the evenings, guests can end the day around the campfire or enjoy satellite TV. The in-house restaurant serves varied meals with meat, fresh vegetables, salads, and desserts. For excursions, lunch packs can be prepared, ensuring culinary support on the go.
Activities and Excursions at Kalahari Rest
Kalahari Rest also offers a range of activities. Particularly popular are the early morning and late afternoon game drives, where guests can observe a variety of wildlife. In addition to antelope species such as eland, kudu, and impala, it is often possible to spot giraffes, zebras, leopards, cheetahs, or even the rare brown hyena. Birdwatchers will also be delighted, as the area is home to a diverse and abundant birdlife.
